DOHA: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning which coordinated efforts to remove logged rainwater late on Thursday and yesterday, cleared all affected areas.
The ministry has provided a link on its official Twitter account which can be accessed by people to make a request to immediately send water tanker to an affected area to drain out rainwater.
One needs to access ‘sewage vehicle request’ section in the link and key in details such as building number, area, zone number, street name and number and the ID number of the person making the request and his mobile phone number.
Ashghal said by early yesterday afternoon all highways and subways were cleared or rainwater.
However, according to people in residential areas, internal streets continue to have rainwater and tankers have not been able to reach these places.
Also, due to water-logging, many people reported that their cars had developed defects.
Ashghal said its water-removal teams became active as soon as it began raining late on Thursday and were active yesterday as well.
The authority can be contacted for emergency on hotline 44951111. People can also email Ashghal ([email protected],qa).
Ashghal has urged people that no one should open a manhole on the road since it can be a dangerous thing to do. “Only we can open a manhole,” the authority said.
