DOHA: Qatar Fuel (Woqod) opened its eighth service station for 2015 in Al Mas’habiya near Abu Samra border, the second outlet in the area.
Under the patronage of Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani, Chairman, Woqod, the station was inaugurated by CEO Ibrahim Jaham Al Kuwari.
Built at a cost of QR17m, the station is spread over an area of 12,000sqm and has six lanes and six dispensers. It will offer round-the-clock services to the Abu Samra community, and travellers to Qatar arriving through the Abu Samra border, including Sidra convenience store, multi-function bay, which will provide auto repair, tyre services and manual wash, in addition to selling petrol and diesel products.
Al Kuwari said, “The expansion of our service network will bring us closer to our customers and help us achieve our goal of providing them with access to best-in-class products and services at their convenience and comfort. The new opening reaffirms our growth strategy to meet the rising demand for petroleum and allied products by the public, in line with the sustained urban growth Qatar is witnessing.”
This is the 31st opening completed by Woqod, with earlier openings this year of New Al Rayyan, Bin Derham, Al Lagthafiya, Al Wakrah, Wajba, Al Thakhira and Lijimiliya service stations. Woqod plans to have three new centres for vehicle inspection (Fahes) in Shahabiya, Al Wukair and Al Khorby early next year. The expansion strategy seeks to increase the service stations by 100 by 2020, given land availability by authorities. There are plans to have most new petrol stations on the outskirts of Doha or in one of the fast-growing towns outside the city.
