Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the opening of part of the new Al Khor Main Road adjacent to the current road, in the direction from Al Shamal Road to Water Filling Station Roundabout and vice versa.
The new road is 600-metre long and includes one lane in each direction. The existing road will be closed as part of Al Haidan Street which leads to Al Khor Coastal Roundabout.
The closure is required to facilitate construction of a new signal-controlled intersection near Al Khor Compound of Independent Schools for Girls and works to develop infrastructure, storm water drainage network and road network in the area. The closure of the old road starts tomorrow and lasts six months. Motorists can use alternative local roads in the area.
Ashghal will install signs to advise motorists of the diversion and has urged road users to abide by speed limits and follow signs to ensure their and others’ safety. The Peninsula
