DOHA: The Advisory Council has taken the issue of rising rents of commercial and residential properties in the country seriously.
The Council has referred the matter to its specialist committee for in-depth study to find out causes of increasing rents and ways to check it.
Yesterday, the Services and Public Amenities Committee of the Advisory Council met to discuss the issue. According to QNA, after a study of the issue it was decided to resume their evaluation of the causes of rent rise and ways to tackle it at their next meeting. Earlier, several members of the Advisory Council had raised the issue of rising rents so it was decided to refer it to the Committee.
Besides the Committee meeting, the Advisory Council held its routine 44th weekly meeting to discuss the issue of National Health Insurance Scheme.
QNA reported that the Council took note of a report the General Secretariat of the State Cabinet sent to the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) regarding the recommendations of the Advisory Council about the insurance scheme called Seha. The health insurance cover has been entrusted with private companies now, having been taken from the National Health Insurance Company. The regular meeting of the Advisory Council was held under the chairmanship of its speaker, H E Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi. At the opening, Secretary-General Fahad bin Mubarak Al Khayareen read out the agenda that was agreed upon. Meanwhile, the meeting of the Council’s Services and Public Amenities Committee was chaired by rapporteur Saqr Fahad Al Meraikhi.
