DOHA: Al Gannas Society, in collaboration with Souq Waqif Falcon Hospital, is hosting the second Qatar International Falcon Veterinary Conference from January 26 to 28.
Mohammed bin Abdulatif Al Missned, Vice-President of the society, said: “The second edition of the conference will discuss the state of methods in falcons veterinary, types of diseases that affect falcons in the Gulf and appropriate veterinary solutions.
“It will also shed light on outcomes of specialised research in collaboration with a global group of veterinarians and scientists and researchers. The conference is a scientific meeting place in the field of falcon veterinary.”
Al Missned thanked the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara for sponsoring the forum and providing support to contribute to its success. He also praised the Engineering Office’s support for the conference and preserving the heritage of falconry.
Al Missned said holding the conference stems from the importance of falconry in the traditions of Qatar and other GCC countries. “We look forward to contributing to coming up with results in terms of falcon treatment and medication. Holding the conference indicates the society’s keenness to spread awareness about falcon veterinary worldwide to ensure sustainability and achieve the maximum benefits for falcons and falconers,” he said.
Al Missned stressed that it is one of the leading falcon veterinary conferences worldwide. “It is the second most important initiative to develop scientific and falcon veterinary search. “It provides opportunity for veterinarians, scientists, researchers, falconers and decisionmakers in government and private institutions involved in falconry to discuss providing the best care for falcons. The conference will also provide a summary of the latest global scientific movement in the field.”
The event will include lectures on birds of prey, mainly falcons, endoscopy, orthopaedic, ophthalmology and soft tissue surgery master classes and practical lab and excursions, including ‘Marmi, the Challenge’ falcon competition and Al Wabra Wildlife Preservation.
