Sarajevo: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday spent time in Sarajevo with a group of Bosnian orphans who are under the care of Qatar Charity.
He attended an ‘Open Day’ activities which were held for Bosnian orphans by Qatar Charity (QC) at Hotel Bristol in Sarajevo .
Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported from Bosnian capital Sarajevo that the Emir watched a documentary film about the activities of Qatar Charity in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and charitable efforts being made by Qatar Charity in Bosnian territory, in addition to Islamic songs performed by children to celebrate the Emir’s visit.
The Emir exchanged cordial conversation with the children who expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to him for the support and patronage. They also voiced their gratitude for Qatar, its leadership, government and people and wished the Emir good health and happiness, and the Qatari people further progress and prosperity.
Earlier, the Emir held official talks with the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr Dragan Covic, at the Presidential Palace in Sarajevo. The talks dealt with aspects of joint cooperation in various fields and ways of promoting them, especially in politics, economy, investment, culture and tourism.
The two sides also discussed the overall developments in regional and international arenas, and exchanged views. The talks were attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir.
On the Bosnian side it was attended by member of the Presidency Council, Bakir Izetbegovic, Presidency Council member Dr Mladen Ivanic, Prime Minister Denis Zvizdi , Speaker of the House of Representatives Borjana Kristo, Speaker of House of Peoples Ognjen Tadic as well as a number of ministers
The Emir arrived in Sarajevo yesterday after wrapping up a two-day visit to Italy. Upon his arrival at Sarajevo International Airport, the Emir was welcomed by Foreign Minister of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak, Qatar’s Ambassador Rashid bin Mubarak Al Kuwari, Bosnia’s envoy to Qatar Tarik Sadovic, and a number of heads of Arab diplomatic missions accredited to Bosnia and Herzegovina, senior government officials of Bosnia and officials from Qatari embassy.
The Emir left Sarajevo in the evening after concluding a one-day official visit to the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He sent a cable to Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Covic, voicing his gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality that he and the accompanying delegation received, and expressing his pleasure to have reviewed friendship and cooperation ties between the two countries and the exchange of views on issues of common concern.
