Oil and Gas Oil and gas are the chief exports of the State of Qatar, accounting for more than half of the State's gross domestic product. Qatar Energy is the state-run agency responsible for all phases of oil and gas production both within the country and overseas. It was established as Qatar General Petroleum Corporation in 1974 and renamed in 2001. Headquartered in Doha, Qatar Energy domestic operations encompass on- and offshore oil drilling – the North Field natural gas reserve (the largest in the world), and three industrial cities which support the production and processing of oil and gas. Through its subsidiaries and partnerships, Qatar Energy activities cover the exploration, drilling and production of crude oil and natural gas, as well as the transport, storage, marketing and sales of their derivative products. As regards energy consumption, Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation "KAHRAMAA" issues an annual report that contains the relevant information, and it is available on KAHRAMAA website.
