Doha: Upcoming shooter Noora Salem Al Mohannadi notched a double at the Emir Shooting and Archery Championship winning both the senior and junior categories of the Women’s 50m 3 Positions.
Yesterday at the Losail Shooting Range, Noora was at her best and upstaged seasoned campaigner Bahiya Mansour Al Hamad to win the senior event.
Noora, a second highest qualifier behind Bahiya, reserved her best for the final. The final tally of 445.1 was good enough to fetch both the senior and junior titles for Noora. Bahiya, who represented Qatar at the 2012 London Games, could manage only 441.9 and won the silver medal, while Matara Fahad Al Assieri finished third with a 427.1 score.
In the junior section, Noora topped, while Aysha Yousaf Al Suwaidi came second and Khuloud Jamal al Saeed settled for the bronze.
In Women’s 25m Pistol, Dana Saad Al Mubarak edged Salma Abbas Johar 7-5 to win the event. Suad Waleed Al Khater defeated Nasra Mohammed Mahmoud to win bronze.
Dana Suleman bagged the Junior Women’s 25m Pistol gold medal, beating Zainab Tayeb Buftain. Noora Ibrahim Al Mutawa finished third.
