Doha: Hosts Qatar came up with an impressive show to win one silver medal and two bronze on the first day of the Second CISM Shotgun Championship at Losail Shooting Complex.
Yesterday, Sarah Mohammed finished second in the Women’s Skeet event, while compatriot Reem Al Sharshani clinched bronze to complete the two-three in the event.
Isarapa Imprasertsuk of Thailand clinched the top prize in Skeet.
For hosts Qatar, the day’s other bronze medal came in the Women’s Trap event.
Nawal Al Khalaf won a shootout with compatriot Amna Al Abdulla to win the third place.
Italian Giansanti Romina topped the event followed by Kuwiat’s Sarah Al Hawal.
Meanwhile in the Men’s Trap, Hasan Majed of Bahrain leads the field with a score of 73 at the end of Day 1. Qatar’s Abusharib Saeed is in joint second place along with Peltonen Miikla of Finland, Upelnieks Dainis of Latvia, all with a score of 72.
Two other competitors from Al Muhannadi and Al Kuwari Mohammed are in the third place along with Kuwait’s Al Gharib Yousif.
In the Men’s Skeet, Waalan Marzouq of Kuwait has the lead going into the final day of the competition today.
The Kuwaiti turned out in an impressive performance shooting down 74 clay pigeons targets.
Rossi Ferdinando of Italy and Matilainen Veli Malti of Finalnd are closely following the leader with a score of 72. The two-day championship ends today.
The championship is sanctioned by International Military Sports Council (CISM) and 65 shooters from ten countries are taking part in the Trap and Skeet categories. Shooters from Bahrain, Finland, Iraq, Italy, Kuwait, Latvia, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar and Thailand are featuring in the event.
