Al Arabi, Al Sadd register wins in QBF Men’s League

Doha: Al Arabi banked on the game-long brilliance of ace point guard Mohammed Abdullah Jalloh to register a convincing 88-68 victory over a fighting Qatar SC in the opening day of the Qatar Men’s League at the Al Rayyan Sports Club, yesterday. 

Qatar took command from the first whistle. With the score at 12-8, their big players dominated the shaded lane but the Emir Cup champions grabbed the upper hand to lead 25-18 at the end of the first quarter.

Al Arabi led 45-37 at the half and  61-50 at the third session.

Jalloh capped his sterling performance with a 39 points, eight rebounds and six assists. 

Alvin Mofunaya contributed 18 while William Byrd added 16 to Al Arabi’s first win. Qatar was led by Leslie La mont who finished with 22 points and 6 rebounds.

In the curtain-raiser, Al Sadd spoiled the league debut of Al Shamal Sports Club with a 91-43 scoreline. 

Daoud Mousa led his team with 23 points as Michael Benjamin Southall helped with 17 points and 12 rebounds. THE PENINSULA
