10 Filipinos pardoned on National Day: Embassy

DOHA: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani pardoned 10 Filipinos on the occasion of Qatar National Day last month, the Philippine embassy said yesterday.
The Filipinos granted clemency by the government included nine males and one female, who had served a substantial portion of their sentences, the embassy said.
“The embassy sincerely welcomes the clemency granted to 10 Filipino prisoners by the Emir on the occasion of Qatar National Day. Same as the previous Eid Al Fitr, this shows the great compassion displayed by the Emir and the government of Qatar,” Ambassador Wilfredo C Santos told this daily. The embassy is facilitating the Filipinos’ repatriation in coordination with the Search and Follow-Up Department at the Ministry of Interior.
