Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary General, Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and the President of Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF), is seen with Qatar basketball squad at the Doha International Airport yesterday. On Saturday, Qatar retained its crown at the 13th GCC Basketball Championship after defeating Bahrain 74-64 in the final. The title is the fourth for Qatar and it becomes the GCC’s number one in terms of titles won. Kuwait and Saudi Arabia - both with three titles each - are in joint second place. Bahrain, meanwhile, missed out on their first ever title and had to settle for second place. UAE came in third. The top three teams qualify automatically for the Asian Championship. Yassin Ismael was the star of the final and dominated for long periods of the game. Qatar held a seven-point lead by half-time and managed to extend that to 10 by the end of the game.
