Traffic department announces 50% discount for old traffic fines

Doha: There is good news for all motorists with pending traffic fines from last year. You have to pay only 50 percent of that fine and have time till April 7, 2016 to settle the same.
The General Directorate of Traffic announced 50 percent reductions for all traffic fines registered before December 31, 2015. This discount in fine payment will be available for those paying the fines within 3 months periods starting today, January 8, 2016 until April 7, 2016.
According to a post by Ministry of Interior on their social media platforms the deduction is available for all type of traffic fines recorded before the December 31, 2015 including radar recorded violations, violations given by traffic cops and vehicle impounding.
“People can take advantage of this opportunity to settle their traffic fines either through MOI e-channels such as MOI web portal, Metrash2 mobile app and Self-Service Kiosks as wells as traffic service counters spread across the country,” the post explained.
“This opportunity is given for the public to correct their traffic status file and settle all the fines and to apply the strict implementation of traffic laws and regulations with recent change and amendments in traffic law.
“Traffic Directorate urges all motorists to abide by traffic rules and regulations and cooperate on its efforts to save lives on roads by curbing speed limit violations and others,” the statement concluded.
