DOHA: Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has collected QR5m in donations through a call-in radio programme to supply portable homes to Syrian refugees. The money will be enough to buy 400 portable homes.
The programme ‘Abwab Al Rahma’ (Doors for Mercy) was organised by RAF in collaboration with the Radio for the Holy Quran to collect donations for a campaign to provide portable homes to Syrian refugees.
Famous Islamic Scholar Dr. Muhammad Al Arifi attended the programme as Chief Guest to encourage citizens and expatriates to support the cause. RAF is running a campaign to collect donations to dispatch 1,050 portable homes for Syrian refugees during Q1 of the year, said a report posted on the RAF website. More donations are required, as RAF has targeted to provide 1,050 portable homes for Syrian refugees in Jordan and those displaced inside the country.
Donations could be made through SMS on Ooredoo mobile number.
The donor will have to type 12 and send to 92177 for QR1,000. A hotline 55341818 is also available round-the-clock to receive donations. The Peninsula
