DOHA: Qatar Career Fair (QCF) of Qatar Foundation’s (QF) second ‘Winter Career Camp’ featured stimulating career-oriented workshops tailored to help students discover their talents.
They included a team-building session to encourage participants to work together and an ‘I Paint My Future’ workshop, which helped students visualise their professional future.
A ceremony was held to award certificates to the participants. Abdulla A. Al Mansoori, Director, QCF, said, “Today we are celebrating the students that took part in this year’s camp. Through the programme they have acquired skills and knowledge that will enable them to make a more informed decision about their future.
“The camp is part of year-round integrated programmes and initiatives organised by QCF to prepare young men and women professionally. We urge Qatari youth to participate in these programmes and activities to be better prepared to tackle challenges posed by the local labour market and bolster the growth of their country,” he added.
Participants also visited Texas A&M University at Qatar and Northwestern University in Qatar to learn more about academic programmes and admission requirements. They were given the opportunity to experience university life and tour facilities. Wafaa Mohamed Al Mansoori, a student at the Modern English School, said, “Before I took part in the camp, I knew I wanted to study mechanical engineering.”
Students also visited Rumailah Hospital, a member of Hamad Medical Corporation, toured the simulation station at Qatar Aeronautical College, and explored Al Rayyan TV studios.
Abdul Rahman Emad, a student at the Cambridge School, said, “The camp encouraged me to think about my future, which, I think, is to become a doctor.”
