PM opens Police Training Institute headquarters

He also inaugurated the Ministry of Interior’s Educational and Training Environment project (education and training system), the largest project completed last year. 

 

DOHA: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday opened the headquarters of the Police Training Institute and Public Guards Department in Sailiyah.
He also inaugurated the Ministry of Interior’s Educational and Training Environment project (education and training system), the largest project completed last year. The project aims to create a modern educational environment to enhance  education and training at the ministry, supported with communication and information technology and delivering training material in an easy and smooth way for trainees. There were 12 teams of 130 people working on the task to develop the system and accomplish it within the deadline.
The project includes e-education, from which all departments of the ministry will benefit. The education system includes distance lectures where the speaker can deliver the speech from anywhere in the world.
The opening ceremony was attended by several senior officials, officers and directors of the different departments of the ministry.
The 615,000-square-metre building occupies 16 percent of the total area and the training grounds, green spaces and parking areas are spread over the rest of the institute’s area.
The institute includes administrative buildings, the Police Sciences headquarters, women police departments and music, languages, sports and training sections. It also comprises a mosque, barracks, two sports halls, a weapons warehouse, a theatre, lecture halls and other facilities.
Built over 75,000sqm, the Public Guards Department building occupies 45,000sqm and the remaining space hosts six residential buildings. The site also contains recreational and training facilities.
