DOHA: In a near flawless drive, Abdulaziz Abdulla, behind the wheels of his Porsche, won the fourth round of the Qatar National Road Racing Championship (QNRRCH) at Losail International Circuit.
The driver had a very tough battle with Ahmad Ghaith Al Kuwari, who finished in second place in a Mitshubishi car.
The gap between the two Qatari drivers was only 0.282 seconds. In third place of the podium in the Open class was for Talal Wehbe from Australia with a Lotus.
In the Production Class, Nasser Sheghail Al Abdulla emerged winner while Saif Al Naimi and Abdulla Al Kharaan finished second and third respectively.
The trophies on the podium ceremony were presented by Mohammed Saad Al, General Secretary of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF).
After this round, Wehbe is leading the championship in the Open Class with 22 points.
Abdulaziz Abdulla is in second place with 20 points while Pavel Nedobity is third with 12 points.
In the Production Class, Nasser Sheghail Al Abdulla has 10 points and is leading this category.
Saif Al Naimi and Abdulla Al Kharaan are second and third places respectively in the Production Class.
The next rounds for this championship will be held on May 24 and 25.
Earlier, Australian rider Alex Cudlin won both races of the fifth round of Qatar International Road Racing Championship (QIRRC) to take his overall tally to the 50 points.
The defending champion now only needs four points to secure the title.
Cudlin is leading the championship with 224 points.
German rider Nina Prinz is in second place with a tally of 132 while Qatar’s Saeed Al Sulaiti is in third place with 127 points. Mishal Al Naimi is in fourth place with 116.
The 6th round of QIRRCH will be on June 7 and 8.
