Doha: London Games bronze  medallist Vasily Mosin of Russia edged out Daniele Di Spigno of Italy to win the Double Trap category of the Qatar Open Shotgun Championship.
Yesterday at the Losail Shooting Range the 43-year-old, Russian doctor shot down 29 clay pigeons out of the possible 30 in the gold medal shoot-out to emerge on top and collect the top prize of $7,000.
After five qualification rounds of 30 targets, Scott was lying second along with Di Spigno and Italian Antonino Barilla.
The top six shooters in the qualifying rounds make it to the final to take a shot at gold.
After a very tense shoot-off among the top six, the Russian shooter Mosin lead with a steady 27/30 leaving Di Spigno, Mauro De Filippis of Italy  and compatriot Vitaly Fokeev to battled it out in semi-final shoot-out, with Di Spigno able to hold his nerve to earn a place in the final.
In the bronze medal clash, Fokeev managed to outwit the De Filippis.
The eight-day championship will end on February 19.
