Beijing: The Embassy of Qatar in China in association with the Chinese Ministry of Culture announced yesterday the launch of the Qatar-China 2016 Cultural Year.
Speaking at a press conference in the main hall of the National Museum of China, Qatar’s Ambassador to China, Saqr bin Mubarak Al Mansouri, underlined Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s full support for the Cultural Year. He pointed out that authorities in the countries, especially Qatar Museums Authority and the Chinese Ministry of Culture have prepared for the event.
He added that the event will contribute to the coming together of the two peoples and enhance mutual understanding and knowledge, stressing that the Cultural Year coincides with ongoing cooperation for implementation of the New Silk Road Economic Belt.
The Deputy Director of the External Relations Department of the Chinese Ministry of Culture, Lu Yanvi, stressed the importance of the Cultural Year, pointing out that the two sides have signed an agreement this year to organise cultural activities in both countries. QNA
