Doha: Qatar University (QU) Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI) launched the second wave of the Domestic Tourism Survey which is aimed at understanding and analyzing tourism activities undertaken in Qatar by the country's residents.
Conducted in conjunction with Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), the survey is the second of four as part of an agreement signed between both parties. It also aligns with the Institute's mission to contribute to the development of the Qatari society by providing high-quality survey data to guide evidence-based planning and research in the social and economic sectors.
Data collection for this second survey will be carried out until November 30. It will be conducted through telephone sampling, targeting Qatari nationals and professional expatriates living in Qatar for at least six months.
Commenting on the survey, SESRI director and QU Acting VP for Research Dr Darwish Al-Emadi said: "The survey provides important information on domestic tourism activity and spending in Qatar, and highlights the Institute’s commitment to engage the community to reflect on issues relevant to its needs and aspirations, at a time when the country is promoting its tourism sector as a key driver of economic and social growth."
The survey will feed into Qatar's Tourism Satellite Account (TSA), a system approved by the UN Statistical Commission for establishing the economic impact of tourism on a country's economy. It will also support QTA's partners in the private sector in their efforts to understand resident activity patterns and levels of customer satisfaction and to develop their products and services accordingly.
