Doha: Old warhorse Nokia is back with a bang. The whole stock was sold out in 60 seconds in the first flash sale in China.
The Nokia 6 smartphone became available on the Chinese portal JD.com. It is not clear how many units they sold during the flash sale.
The unit is available only in China news reports said that the retailers are told not to ship outside the country.
This means Qatar residents will have to wait for some time before they can lay hands on these most anticipated smartphones of the year.
The return of Nokia has created lot of interest among a generation of people who has started their smartphone usage with a Nokia phone – smart or otherwise.
The Finnish giant had ruled the world of mobile phones for a long time, but lagged behind in innovation as Apple and Samsung marched ahead with phones which were much sleeker and high-tech.
Now Nokia has made a big come-back and they are taking the Android route and are expected to launch more products this year.
The device is manufactured by HMD Global and has seen great interest in China and received over one million registrations since January 4.
Nokia 6 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display that sports a 2.5 Gorilla Glass protection. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor powers the device, which is coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage (expandable to 128GB via microSD). On the camera front, Nokia 6 packs a 16MP rear unit with an f/2.0 aperture along with an 8MP front shooter.
The phone is backed by a 3000 mAh battery and sports connectivity via Wi-Fi, USB-OTG, GPS and Bluetooth 4.1. Nokia 6 will be running Android 7.0 Nougat and feature Dolby Atmos technology. The phone is priced at 1,699 Yuan (approx $245).
The Finnish firm plans to unveil seven more devices this year at the upcoming Mobile World Congress, including the flagship Nokia P1 device.
