Doha: Malabar Gold & Diamonds, the leading jewellery retailer in the Middle East, organised a free medical camp ‘Care & Aware’, in association with Aster Medical Centre, Well Care Group and Qatar KMCC on Friday at Aster Medical Centre near Al Khor Mall.
It was the third edition of the camp, where over 500 people benefitted from free consultations by expert doctors and received free medicines and provided with fee conveyance, breakfast and refreshment.
Ali Palliyath, State Treasurer, KMCC, opened the camp in the presence of Santhosh T V, Regional Head, Malabar Gold & Diamonds-Qatar: Sameer Moopan, CEO, Aster Group Qatar; and Ashraf K P, Managing Director, Well Care Group.
To ensure quality healthcare is accessible to all, especially those who cannot afford expensive medical care, Malabar Gold & Diamonds has been conducting several camps in the Middle East in association with like-minded organisations as part of its CSR activities.
In Qatar, the retailer, along with  Aster, Well Care, and Qatar KMCC Kozhikode District committee conducts healthcare activities, focusing on low-income expatriate communities.
The first camp was held in November 2012 and there are plans for more on the outskirts of Doha, following good public response to the first two camps.
Santhosh T V said: ‘Malabar Group is always at the forefront when it comes to CSR. We have kept aside a certain percentage of our profit for CSR activities in all regions we operate. We are pleased to participate in this cause and thank Qatar KMCC, Aster and Well Care Group for helping us make this event successful’.
