Addis Ababa: Algerian Minister of Energy and Mining Mohamed Arkab met in Addis Ababa with his Ethiopian counterpart, Habtamu Itefa Geleta, to discuss avenues for cooperation in the area of energy and the development of electricity generation and exportation projects.
The deliberations were centered on capitalizing on Algerian capabilities to develop the electrical grid for the Ethiopian side in remote and agricultural areas, in addition to bolstering its ability to export energy at the regional level.
Arkab emphasized his country's readiness to support Ethiopia in advancing renewable energy projects, particularly in the domains of centralized and decentralized photovoltaic solar power stations, as well as wind energy.
Both sides agreed to form a joint task force to identify concrete projects as soon as possible to boost energy cooperation and open new prospects for partnership in the fields of renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, and grid development.
