Emir and Cuban President hold talks

Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of the Republic of Cuba Raul Castro held official talks at the Palace of the Revolution in Havana yesterday.

Havana: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Cuban President Raul Castro held official talks at Palace of the Revolution in Havana yesterday morning.
Castro expressed pleasure and appreciation for the Emir’s visit and said it will boost and advance relations between the two friendly countries to wider horizons.
The Emir expressed pleasure over visiting Cuba and thanked Castro for the warm reception and generous hospitality accorded to him and his delegation, saying he was looking forward to further cooperation for the benefit of both countries and peoples.
The two sides discussed ways of strengthening and developing relations in various fields, particularly in the economy, trade, investment and health sectors. They also exchanged views on current regional and international issues, particularly latest developments in the Middle East.
The meeting was attended by the Emir’s delegation and Cuban ministers and senior officials.
The Emir and Castro witnessed the signing of an agreement between the two governments on a visa waiver for holders of diplomatic and special passports, and a memorandum of understanding between Qatar Investment Authority and the Cuban Ministry of Trade and Foreign Investment on cooperation in investment field. Earlier, the Emir was accorded an official reception upon arrival at the palace.
The Emir attended a luncheon banquet hosted by Castro in his honour at the palace.
The Emir’s delegation and Cuban ministers and senior officials were present.
The Emir left Havana after a two-day official visit to Cuba, heading to Mexico. He and his delegation were seen off at Havana Jose Marti International Airport by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra, Qatari Ambassador to Cuba Rashed Mirza Al Mulla and Qatari embassy staff.
The Emir sent a cable to Castro, expressing gratitude and appreciation for the hospitality he and his delegation received and his delight at meeting the president and reviewing friendship and cooperation ties between the two countries. 
The Emir also expressed his wishes of health and wellbeing to Castro and the friendly Cuban people more development and growth.
