Sheikh Khalid attends Pearl Initiative Roundtable

DOHA: Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of Ezdan Holding, attended the Pearl Initiative Roundtable Luncheon on Corporate Accountability in the Arab World held on Monday at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. 

Sheikh Khalid attended the event as a member of the Board of the Governors of Pearl Initiative. The issues of transparency, accountability and business practices in the Arab world were discussed in the event.

Abdul Basit Ahamad Al Shibi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB), attended the luncheon held on the sidelines of meeting.

Sheikh Khalid met with Francisco J Sánchez, Under-Secretary for International Trade at the US Department of Commerce, during his visit and discussed several commercial and investment projects for private sector. The talks also focused on investment opportunities in two countries in the private sector.

The Pearl Initiative is a private sector-led not-for-profit organisation set up to improve transparency, accountability and business practices in the Arab world.  It is a growing regional membership network of business leaders committed to driving joint action and sharing knowledge and experience. The Pearl Initiative has been developed in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Partnerships. 

The Pearl Initiative aims to create a culture of greater transparency and accountability within the Arabian Gulf region in order to positively impact the business environment and foster competitive economic growth and sustainable social development.
