Doha: The Supreme Organising Committee of the West Asian Clubs Athletics Championships has announced Doha’s readiness to host the second edition of the championship, featuring over 300 male and female athletes from 21 clubs representing 13 countries. The event is scheduled to take place at the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium at Qatar Sports Club from April 7 to 10.

In preparation, the organising committee conducted an inspection tour of the stadium, reviewing its warm-up facilities, athlete call-in rooms, referee and timekeeper offices, and doping control areas. These measures ensure all facilities meet the organizational standards set by the World Athletics before welcoming the participating teams.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Tournament Director Khalid Al Suwaidi expressed his satisfaction with the progress of preparations. He noted that the Supreme Committee is closely coordinating with all relevant parties to ensure a successful hosting of the championship in Qatar for the second time. Al Suwaidi emphasized the importance of reviewing every technical detail, particularly after the IAAF Council approved the tournament for the 2024–2025 sports season.

He further highlighted the collective effort to make this second edition even more successful than the first, thereby enhancing the quality of athletics in Qatar. According to Al Suwaidi, all necessary resources are being deployed to guarantee the event’s administrative and technical excellence, paving the way for record-breaking achievements by the competing athletes.

Al Suwaidi also stressed that the committee’s field visit served as an opportunity to verify that all facilities meet the required international standards. He underscored the significance of the event from both administrative and technical perspectives.

After the success of the first edition in 2023, which was hosted by Qatar Club, the Qatar Athletics Federation granted administrative supervision of the second edition to Al Ahli Club.
