Work has been done to improve facilities, enhance security and safety, and provide integrated services to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for families and individuals, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 to promote beach tourism.
In an exclusive interview with QNA, Al Rumaihi said that the Ministry has paid special attention to beaches that attract families, by equipping them with children’s play areas, umbrellas, comfortable seating areas and restrooms, while emphasising the allocation of beaches for families, such as Simaisma, Al Wakra, and Al Farkia.
He also stressed the development of Al Mamlha Beach for women, with an area of 15,000 square meters, to be a destination dedicated entirely to women, with secure gates, solar lighting, and barbecue and recreation areas.
In a related context, the Ministry is working to diversify beach activities, with some beaches attracting water sports enthusiasts such as jet skiing, kayaking, and rowing. Sealine, Al Ghariyah, and Ras Abu Abboud beaches are among the most prominent destinations offering these activities and thereby boosting recreational tourism in the country, he added.
Regarding security and safety measures during the Eid holiday, Al Rumaihi noted that the Ministry has reinforced the presence of trained rescue teams operating around the clock, in addition to providing clear signage, and implementing regulations prohibiting random camping and the entry of animals onto certain beaches to ensure visitor safety. He also noted the intensification of environmental awareness efforts through media campaigns and live beach events, urging visitors to maintain the cleanliness of public places and reduce waste.
He emphasised that these efforts are part of Qatar’s 2030 strategy, which focuses on environmental sustainability.
In response to a question regarding future development projects to promote beach tourism, Al Rumaihi revealed future development projects aimed at improving the infrastructure of public beaches and increasing the number of facilities and services provided to visitors, in line with the country’s aspirations to transform Qatar into a sustainable global tourism destination.
