London: The Ministry of Labor participated in the bi-annual consultative meetings with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), Global Trade Union Confederations (GUFs), and the International Labor Organization (ILO), held in the United Kingdom. The Ministry of Labor was represented at the meetings by Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs at the Ministry of Labor Mohammed Hassan Al Obaidli.
The Ministry’s participation in the meetings of the International Labor Organization comes within the framework of cooperation with various international organizations, the exchange of international expertise and experiences in the field of labor as well as consultation on implementation and development mechanisms.
Mohammed Hassan Al Obaidli met with a number of officials in the main bodies in the labor sector in the UK.
The meetings dealt with the most prominent developments, updates and exchange of experiences and expertise in the labor sector, especially basic issues, including the minimum wage, the use of domestic workers, joint labor committees, occupational health and safety, and raising the level of awareness among workers, in addition to international cooperation in the fields of labour.
The meetings also discussed ways to combat human trafficking at the global level, advisory services on arbitration and conciliation and ways to benefit from them in resolving labor issues at the world level, and ways to update labor legislation, laws and policies in various countries in cooperation and coordination with International Labor Organizations.
