DOHA: Young Qatari artist Aisha Al Kaabi opened her first solo exhibition at Katara Art Studios yesterday.
Al Kaabi’s debut expo ‘Burst of Colours’ features 10 acrylic paintings in which she explores abstract technique. She experiments with various hues dominated by yellow and red to vividly highlight the inspiration behind her works.
“‘Burst of Colours’ is my first artistic experience. I have combined plenty of colours that might be perceived as scattered, while in a comprehensive approach will be seen as elegant and cohesive,” explained Al Kaabi.
The emerging artist, who is taking up psychology at Qatar University, expressed happiness over launching her first exhibition at Katara.
She said the exhibition is deemed a determined start for her first collection of works and especially that it is taking place at Katara which is considered an art landmark attracting Qatari, Arab and foreign art enthusiasts. The artist started painting six years ago, joining painting and visual art courses.
She has been into abstract painting for four years. In her artwork, Aisha features “audacious” colour combinations that require high artistic sense and specific colour coordination patterns.
“At Katara, we are glad to host the first exhibition by the Qatari young artist. Katara will leave no stone unturned to motivate and encourage Qatari talents that pave the way to introducing creative visions,” said Darweesh Ahmad Al Shibani, Director, Marketing and International and Cultural Relations, Cultural Village Foundation-Katara, who opened the exhibition.
