DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) has set up a camp for displaced Syrians near the Turkey-Syria borders. It comprises 500 tents and another 500 were set up for affected-families in Aleppo, Hama and Lattakia. A total of 6,000 displaced Syrians benefited.

Some of the beneficiary families used to live with their children in the open, under trees, and the others in crowded tents with other families.
Faisal Rashid Al Fahida, QC’s Director of Operations, said the project could be implemented due to the good response from philanthropists in Qatar to ‘Syria: Endless Winter’ campaign.
QC began the campaign earlier this month. The first batch of aid included 250,000 pieces for around 508,000 people. QC has distributed 2,000 food baskets to the Syrian refugees in Reyhania, near the borders, benefitting 10,000 people. The campaign’s products include ‘Winter Basket for a Family of four’ at a cost of QR1,000. It comprises a blanket, a heater, winter jackets, hats, gloves, socks and neck scarves. The products also include ‘a blanket’ at a cost of QR100, a ‘heater’ (QR250), a ‘winter bag for 2’ (QR400), a ‘food basket’ sufficient for a month and has basic supplies (QR200) ‘school bags’ (QR100) and ‘bread’ for one family for a month (QR50).
