Beirut: Several towns in southern Lebanon were targeted by Israeli artillery shelling this morning.
According to the National News Agency of Lebanon, citing local sources, the shelling hit the northwestern outskirts of the town of Yahmour al-Shaqif, as well as the outskirts of the neighboring towns of Arnoun and Kfartbinet in the same region.
The agency reported that approximately 10 shells fell on the mentioned areas, but no casualties have been reported so far.
Additionally, Israeli shelling targeted Al-Khiyam town, with three Merkava shells fired at the town.
Tensions remain high in southern Lebanon, with concerns growing over the potential for further escalation in the coming days.
A ceasefire agreement in southern Lebanon came into effect on November 27, last year, which included the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Lebanese border towns and villages within 60 days.
After the deadline, the Lebanese government agreed to extend the deadline until February 18, during which Israeli forces withdrew from most areas, except for five border points still under their control.
