Pink Day is an annual event at Park House which raises money for Breast Cancer Awareness, with all funds being donated to the Qatar Cancer Society.

Doha: Students and families at Park House English School hosted their annual Pink Day charity initiative on Thursday, October 22 in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Park House students and parents raised QR 18,279 during the Day. The school contributed a further QR 10, 000 making it a grand total of QAR 28,279. All of the funds were donated to the Qatar Cancer Society to help support those living with breast cancer and to further aid cancer research.

During Pink Day, students at Park House wore pink to school and participated in a number of school-wide activities including: a bake sale, selling pink ribbons to their peers as well as selling pink stationary items, all part of their fund-raising campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In addition, Park House continues to share the message of breast cancer awareness among the student body with a number of presentations and group discussions organised by the Medical Science Club to give students a better understanding about the cause and the importance behind raising awareness and funding for initiatives such as this.

Dougie Smith, Headmaster at Park House English School, explained: “We are extremely proud of all of the students at Park House English School and their participation in our annual Pink Day charity drive. There are very few of us that do not know someone who has, or has had, cancer and our school community got right behind this worthy cause with their generous donations.”

“However, this was much more than just a fund raiser, with our senior students from the Science Medical taking such a responsible approach to support a great cause in raising awareness about the disease through presentations that were informative, thorough and age-appropriate,” added Mr. Smith.

This year marked Park House’s largest Pink Day event to date, with students across the whole student body participating in this wonderful initiative. Park House English School also confirmed that the School’s Scientific Medical Club is gearing up for its upcoming Blue Day, an annual event held on November 14, which aims to raises awareness and create a better understanding about Diabetes.

Both Park House’s Pink Day and Blue Day are part of the School’s ongoing mission to continue spreading health awareness throughout the year and to also give back to the local community in a meaningful way.
