Doha: The General Directorate of Traffic has activated its system for recording violations against motorists, for using mobile phone while driving, through CCTV cameras installed at roadsides especially those at traffic signals.

“A violation has been recorded against a woman for using her mobile phone while driving her car with children on board leading distraction on driving,” said Director of Traffic Awareness Department of the General Directorate of Traffic, Colonel Dr. Muhammad Radi Al Hajri.

Speaking in a Qatar Radio programme recently, he said that the system for monitoring phone users while driving has been activated, noting that traffic cameras have already been activated, especially at traffic lights, to monitor this violation.

He added that mobile phones has become a common problem of the times, making users addictive even in their homes.
