Doha: The General Directorate of Traffic has reminded motorists that the traffic cameras installed on roads can detect most common violations.
Violations such as not wearing seatbelt, talking on mobile while driving and stopping at yellow box are detected by these cameras, especially those installed at traffic signals.
Not using seatbelts and using mobile phones while driving are among the most common traffic violations committed by motorists.
“These hi-tech cameras help in monitoring traffic movement. It makes everyone abide by rules as cameras are there everywhere and can record violations like not wearing seatbelt, using mobile while driving and stopping at yellow box,” said an officer from the Traffic Department
Many motorists do not abide by traffic rules unless they see a traffic patrol. The aim is to reduce violations and traffic accidents, he added.
These violations are monitored by Tala’a project, in addition to many others like as wrong parking, over-speeding, breaking red signal and violations that pose a threat to public safety on the road. The project succeeded in detecting 23 different types of traffic violations.
Tala’a project uses cameras installed at strategic locations of roads and roundabouts to monitor traffic violations of all kinds.
