Doha: Ooredoo has announced it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), at Smart City Expo Doha 2022.

The MoU will see the two entities collaborate on the joint development of innovative smart solutions including indoor and outdoor air quality solutions for the Qatari market and further afield.

Ooredoo and QEERI will work together on the joint development of an indoor air quality platform and decision points, including the cocreation and productisation of indoor and outdoor air quality solutions that will be sold in the Qatari market and further afield.

An example of such a solution is the Healthy Homes initiative, which will provide indoor air quality management B2B services through Ooredoo and QEERI and will be offered as part of Ooredoo’s services portfolio.

Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani, Chief Commercial Officer at Ooredoo, said, “Ooredoo has a formidable reputation as a key ICT provider in Qatar, delivering innovative solutions that drive us towards becoming a truly smart nation. Through this strategic partnership with QEERI, we aim to provide the first indoor and outdoor air quality management solution in Qatar.

"We are committed to supporting Qatar as we work towards achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, including digitalisation and the creation of a smart Qatar, and look forward to more exciting innovations as our collaboration with QEERI progresses.”

Dr. Marc Vermeersch, Executive Director, QEERI, added, “QEERI remains committed to providing tangible solutions to the grand challenges related to energy, water, and environment, and, through this collaboration with Ooredoo, we will be able to directly improve the quality of life for the citizens and residents of Qatar. Healthy Homes will enable our population to make informed decisions, reducing our indoor air pollution exposure. Along with Ooredoo, QEERI is delighted to be at the forefront of Qatar’s digital transformation, particularly in the environment sector.”
